Dr. Tattelbaum Discusses Natural Breast Augmentation
Dr. Adam Tattelbaum, an ivy league Maryland Plastic Surgeon discusses the many factors that have to be considered to create a natural breast augmentation result. Natural looking breast augmentation is definitely the new trend in breast augmentation surgery. The majority of women having breast enhancement surgery today are asking for a natural result as opposed to a decade ago when bigger was in. Dr. Tattelbaum says, “the trend today is definitely towards a natural result, most of the breast implants we are selling today are in the “C” cup range as opposed to a decade ago where most of the implants were in the “D” cup range”. To achieve a natural breast enhancement result every patient is different and unique. There are many factors that go into achieving a great natural breast augmentation, like age, skin quality, breast feeding and weight loss are all common factors that make each case unique. Dr. Tattelbaum says, “a 25 year old that has not breast fed who wants a full “c” cup is much different type of case than a woman who is 40, who has had 3 children and breast fed wanting a full “c” cup result. The 40 year old woman will most likely will need a breast lift and augmentation and the 25 year old will just need an augmentation”. When a new patient visits Dr. Tattelbaum at his Maryland Plastic Surgery Center there are many factors to consider, the first consideration is whether to go with silicone or saline. Dr. Tattelbaum says, “this is a personal choice, some women are still nervous about silicone. Although the silicone implant is totally safe and the filler is more like a gummy bear texture in comparison to the old silicone gel filler used 20 years ago. In addition the saline implants are cheaper so cost is sometimes a factor”. The next step is choosing the correct size and whether or not to go above or below the muscle. Below the muscle provides the most natural result, above the muscle the implant looks much rounder and bouncier. To achieve a natural result Dr. Tattelbaum recommends going under the muscle. Dr. Tattelbaum says, “I like to have my patients try on the actual breast implants in a sizing bra, we keep samples of each size solely for this purpose in each of my offices. The width of the implant to me is the most important starting point. Too wide and a person will look top heavy, too narrow and the result will look like two torpedoes. I like to see the width fill the chest nicely and have an implant who’s diameter balances the outer curve of the breast with the curve of the hip. Some women have this curve naturally, in others the diameter of the implant will create this balance. Once we have the diameter of the breast implant that balances the hips with the chest we can the change the cup size by looking at high, moderate or low profile”. Dr. Tattelbaum is a double Board Certified Maryland Plastic Surgeon who is dual certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery as well as the American Board of Surgery. He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery which serves as a mark of distinction for Plastic Surgeons focused on Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
