Dr. Adam Tattelbaum a Maryland plastic surgeon  is considered one of the top plastic surgeons in Maryland for body contouring procedures and a liposuction expert.  Dr. Tattelbaum has performed thousands of body contouring procedures at his Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC Plastic Surgery Centers. Dr. Tattelbaum says, “while there are a number of different types of liposuction machines and techniques the best outcomes always come from a skilled liposuction surgeon”.  Dr. Tattelbaum believes if you are seeking body contouring via liposuction you should always seek a surgeon that has performed many liposuction procedures.  Today there are many different lipo machines… Read More

Dr. Adam Tattelbaum Creates The Perfect Curves with Brazilian Butt Lift

Maryland Plastic Surgeon Dr. Adam Tattelbaum is considered one of the top plastic surgeons in Maryland offering body contouring procedures.  The new and latest craze in body contouring is the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure according to Dr. Tattelbaum. Dr. Tattelbaum says, “the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure is by far one of the fastest growing procedures in plastic surgery, the procedure allows a patient to extract fat from one area of the body like the stomach, hips and thighs and have the fat inserted into the buttock area creating a more attractive figure”.  This procedure uses some of the most advanced… Read More

How many drains? One, Two or none?

Drains are tubes that are left under the skin during an operation. They are used to remove pockets of fluid that can accumulate. After any surgery, the tissues ooze fluid to a certain degree as they heal. Fluid collections during healing can sometimes lead to infection. Despite this some areas are more prone to collections than others and not all surgeries need drains. Usually drains are removed within a week or so when there is little fluid coming out. The fluid enters a small clear bulb that looks like a grenade. The idea of removing a drain scares patients, but it is more… Read More

A recurring problem with liposuction.

Over the past few years I have seen an increasingly common pattern in patients coming in for abdominal enhancement. I am writing about it now in this blog, hoping you will read it and be able to avoid the same problem. The scenario: a woman will come in concerned about a liposuction that was done elsewhere. When I examine the patient I find a wavy irregular lower abdomen over liposuctioned, and a full under suctioned upper abdomen. Bulgy top, wavy Bottom. The conversation goes something like this: So you had liposuction? Yes, it looked like a good deal. You had your liposuction… Read More

Arm liposuction 50/50?

Arm liposuction 50/50? A patient saw me in the office yesterday. She is having a tummy tuck and breast reduction this fall. She came in again to discuss adding liposuction of the arms at the same time. She was confused though. She had done her usual research on the internet; technologies guide to cosmetic surgery, and found that only about half of the people who had the procedure in the U.S. were happy with their results. Why? She asked. I explained….the key to arm liposuction is not the fat, but the skin. We can suck fat out of almost anywhere,… Read More

Ultrasonolaserliposuction with Power Boost!

Ok, I made up this name. There is no such thing as “Ultrasonolaserliposuction with Power Boost”, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw it advertised somewhere. I really just wanted to capture your attention. I have found that anything associated with the word laser, ultra or the like tends to attract attention. So why am I talking about this? Because a cool device name doesn’t always translate into the right tool for the job. Laser liposuction, Ultrasonic liposuction, Power Assisted liposuction and even good old regular liposuction are all excellent tools. They all remove fat well, but they all shrink up skin poorly, despite… Read More

The Best Tummy Tuck Scar: The Belly Button

belly button

The Best Belly Button. I know it may seem silly, but to me perhaps the most important part of a tummy tuck is that little crease, no more than a centimeter, that is the belly button.  Why so important?  Well a tummy tuck by definition is a scar operation. We pull down loose abdominal skin creating a scar in the lower abdomen. While every effort is made to minimize this scar, it is real and permanent, but fortunately well hidden. Good scar or not, the bikini or underwear will usually hide it. The belly button is another story. It is an unhidden… Read More

Tummy Tuck or Liposuction, Which Should I Have Done?

Do I need a Tummy Tuck or Liposuction? Which do I need, liposuction or a tummy tuck, patients frequently ask this question when they visit their plastic surgeon. Patients can try to answer this question for themselves before they visit the plastic surgeon to understand the difference between the two procedures, figuring out what bothers them most about their body, and what they want to accomplish. Liposuction Liposuction reduces the fat volume in problem areas that make patients uncomfortable about the way they look. This is a more intense procedure as it takes more fat from different areas of the body and… Read More

Men and plastic surgery

Check out the headline for this recent study: Dallas — Certain types of wound complications are more frequent in men than in women who undergo body contouring procedures after weight loss surgeries, according to new research results. The researchers go on to explain that men have about a four-fold risk of hematoma (blood collection under the skin) and about a twofold risk of seroma formation (fluid trapped under the skin). The authors conclude that they will need more study to understand why men have these increased risks. Now, I wasn’t a part of the study, but after 18 years in… Read More

Wear your Bikini to the Mommy Makeover?

When I plan my mommy makeovers I like my patients to bring in their favorite underwear or even bathing suit with them. No string bikinis please, no lacy panties and no granny panties. Something about an inch or two wide around the hips for a tummy tuck or similar width for a bra under the arms, something not too valuable, in case I get some marker on it. I draw the outline of your garment on your body before plastic surgery and I use the outline as a target in which to hide scars. My incisions are individualized. For example, for… Read More
